When Asthmond Williams died (prior to 1900) Ida gave her son Lawrence to his grandmother Margaret Williams to raise. She then left with Rena Singleton, her daughter from a previous relationship. In 1901 Ida Williams married Alva Ball in Lincoln County, Kentucky. It is unknown why, but Lawrence Williams never rejoined his mother after she remarried. Note: Grave headstone has birth year for Ida as 1873 when it should be 1874 as indicated on two U.S. Census reports and death certificate.
